Partnership with National Academy of Arts
Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan and the National Academy of Arts have entered into a partnership
In the Rotary year 2018/2019, on the idea and proposal of Evgeni Grigorov – President of RC Sofia-Balkans during this period, the club decided to focus some of its efforts in the focus area of Rotary “Support for Education”.
The Sofia-Balkan Rotary Club and the National Academy of Arts (NAA) have entered into a partnership agreement establishing a honors award that the Rotary Club will give to a graduate student from the FAA’s Faculty of Fine Arts.

On October 17, 2019, in the office of the Rector of the National Academy of Arts, the formal agreement between the parties was signed, which launched the new cooperation.
On November 1, 2019 (National Awakeners’ Day) the competition for the award of the Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan was officially launched, and an announcement was published on the official websites of the National Academy of Arts and the Sofia-Balkan RC.

On January 31, 2019, the Rector of the National Academy of Arts Prof. Nikolay Drachev issued an order appointing a commission to evaluate the applicants for the award for honors master from the Faculty of Fine Arts for the academic year 2018/2019 and to nominate the winner according to the regulations.
After two meetings and a detailed evaluation of all 15 submitted applications, the Commission determined Mr. Ivan Petkov as the winner with the picture “Seabed”.


During the celebration on the occasion of the birthday of the Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan, at an official ceremony, the award was presented to the first winner of the competition, Mr. Ivan Petkov.
As a token of gratitude, he donated one of his paintings to be included in the organized charity auction, the funds from which will go to support the basketball club for people with wheelchairs Sofia-Balkan.
