On December 2, 2025, District Governor (DG) Plamen Tsvetkov attended an official meeting of the Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan. The event was also attended by Assistant District Governor (ADG) Svetoslav Tanchovski, Past President of RC Ruse-Danube Galya Pencheva, and representatives from the boards of Rotaract Club Sofia-Balkan and the Interact clubs at the 73rd School and the Sofia High School of Mathematics (SMG).
During the District Governor’s official visit, discussions focused on the club’s current status, strategic priorities, and planned projects for the ongoing Rotary year.
Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan stands out for its active project work, strong partnerships, and a clear development vision focused on youth initiatives, international cooperation, and a sustainable club life. The club takes special pride in its two Interact programs—at the Sofia High School of Mathematics and the 73rd Primary School. Representatives from both Interact clubs, as well as young friends from the Rotaract Club Sofia-Balkan, participated in the meeting, bringing additional energy and dynamics to the conversation.
The club aims to develop joint projects under the “Balkan” umbrella, uniting Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact members. The “Mustaches for Health” (“С мустаци за здраве”) initiative has already been successfully implemented. In response to current social challenges, upcoming initiatives include waste and leaf-clearing campaigns in the capital, as well as a summer camp for visually impaired children.
During the meeting, special recognition was given to the Interact and Rotaract presidents, who were presented with pins and the annual theme pennant by DG Plamen Tsvetkov. Additionally, Club President Ivaylo Vasilev gifted them copies of the book “Rotary: A Small Book About a Great Organization” by our friend Nina Miteva.
