We are kicking off 2024 on a high note with the first official meeting of Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan for the year.
We were honored to host three distinguished guests: one with whom our club shares a long history of friendship and partnership, one with whom we look forward to building new collaborations, and a representative of our youth branch, Interact.
Tsvetelina Nikolova, Deputy Executive Director of “Student Recreation and Sports” EAD at the Ministry of Education and Science, gave an engaging presentation on the activities of her organization. The discussion quickly evolved into a brainstorming session, generating numerous ideas for potential collaboration between Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan and her organization, with the future prospect of scaling these initiatives to a District level.
Past District Governor Violina Kostova expressed her gratitude to the club, and especially to President Maria Mircheva, for our participation in the “Become a Secret Santa” initiative, our personal donations, and the publicity organized with the help of Evgeniya Kalkandzhieva. We discussed the challenges facing Rotary, ways to promote the organization’s core values, and strategies for attracting new members. A key topic of our discussion was the need for flexibility within clubs to effectively engage members based in remote locations.
As is tradition in the days following the New Year, we took time for a progress review of our ongoing projects. We discussed the status of our support for the “Transfiguration of the Lord” wooden church in Borovets and the Interact club’s “Buy and Donate” initiative.
It was an inspiring start to the year, setting the stage for a productive and impactful 2024!
