On October 25, 2025, students from the Interact Club of the 73rd School and the Interact Club of the Sofia High School of Mathematics (SMG) took active part in the District Interact Assembly held in the city of Karnobat. The young people were accompanied by Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan President Ivaylo Vasilev, who supported their participation in one of the most significant events for the Interact community in Bulgaria.
Following the long journey to Karnobat, all participants gathered for a lunch hosted by the event organizers. The meeting took place in a friendly atmosphere filled with lighthearted jokes, banter, and new acquaintances among the youth from different cities. From the very first hours, the true spirit of Interact was felt—a unique blend of friendship, energy, and a shared desire to collaborate.
The assembly’s official program featured presentations, discussions, and the sharing of best practices from Interact clubs across the country. Participants learned more about Rotary programs tailored for young people, including opportunities for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) and Youth Exchange, as well as projects implemented with the support of District 2482.
An especially exciting part of the day included various games, case studies, and team challenges that encouraged creativity, teamwork, and leadership skills. The youth worked in teams on tasks such as creating posters, poems, and songs dedicated to kindness and Rotary values.
The students impressed everyone with their ingenuity and unconventional thinking. During the creative process, they used everyday objects in original ways—for instance, a plate from a nearby restaurant served as a template to outline a perfectly round planet on one of their posters. In another task, the youth successfully combined their creative ideas with modern technology, utilizing AI tools to compose a realistic song for their assigned challenge.
While the young leaders exchanged ideas and forged new friendships, the accompanying Rotarians also had the opportunity for productive meetings and discussions. Throughout the day, they reviewed administrative matters, current club projects, and opportunities for future collaboration. Conversations also focused on more effective communication and better coordination between Rotary, Rotaract, and Interact clubs, with a strong emphasis on the development and support of youth programs.
The participation of representatives from Interact 73 and Interact SMG is yet another step in Rotary Club Sofia-Balkan’s efforts to foster the development of young leaders ready to work for positive change in society. Events like the District Interact Assembly provide young people with valuable knowledge, practical skills, and the confidence to implement their own projects for the benefit of the community.
