Happy Birthday, Rotary!

Today, February 23, 2024, marks 119 years since the founding of Rotary International. From its humble beginnings in Chicago, the organization has grown into a global network of over 1.4 million Rotarians united by the ideal of service above self.

What is Rotary?

Rotary is a humanitarian organization with the motto “Service Above Self.” Rotarians strive to improve the lives of people in their communities and around the world by engaging in a variety of projects and initiatives.

What are Rotary’s accomplishments?

Rotary has a rich history of achievements in a number of areas, including:

  • Eradicating polio: Rotary is at the forefront of the global fight against polio. Thanks to the efforts of Rotarians, the number of polio cases has been reduced by 99% since 1988.
  • Providing clean water: Rotary has helped to provide access to clean water for over 100 million people worldwide.
  • Supporting education: Rotary has provided scholarships and educational resources to hundreds of thousands of children.
  • Improving healthcare: Rotary has helped to build hospitals and clinics, and has provided medical supplies and equipment.
